Epitaph for Humanity

Filled with great promise, never achieved

Chose hatred over love,

ignorance over knowledge,

chaos over harmony,

controversy over understanding,

cruelty over kindness,

selfishness over generosity,

egoism over benevolence

Judgmental, arrogant, omniscient and self-righteous,

Knowledge and wisdom obtained,

eventually lost or destroyed

Engaged in endless warfare and conflict,

driven by pride and power,

allowed evil to thrive

Continuously downplayed potential world problems

which escalated into human catastrophes

Always took the easy path with disastrous consequences

Destroyed by greed, selfishness, pride, and ignorance

Rejected truth, embraced the lie

Ruled by tyranny and terror

Manipulated due to ignorance

Controlled by fear and indoctrination

Victims of incalculable misery, cruelty

sadness, despair, loneliness, and unfulfillment.

Few benefited enormously while majority suffered extreme destitution

Constant struggle of the Powerful

for control of the Weak and Powerless,

Indifferent to the lives of others.

Ignored the hungry, helpless, homeless, abused

Plagued by constant upheavals and annihilations

Great builders of monuments and civilizations,

lost to history by never-ending cycle of destruction

Never grasped the importance of forgiveness and understanding.

Ultimately, Humanity failed to understand the meaning of God’s universal love.
